Jarvis Christian College, through the Division of Education was approved on January 12, 2007 by the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) to provide an alternative route to obtain Texas Teacher Certification. The Accelerated Alternative Teacher Certification Program seeks candidates who are recent graduates, mid-career professionals, para-professionals, and non-certified substitute teachers.
The Jarvis Accelerated Alternative Certification Program (JAACP) is a comprehensive program designed to cover the theories and practices essential to practical teaching practices and responsibilities while in preparation for the Texas State Examination.

Program Requirements:
- Four year college degree from an accredited university or college
- A 2.5 overall grade point average on a 4.0 system
- Specified course work for each certificate
- Submission of completed application
- Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA)
- Additional items as requested
