During the past year the Office of Academic Affairs has initiated a campaign to expand, upgrade and diversify the academic offerings and opportunities at Jarvis Christian College. Special emphasis in these efforts has been provided in all of the areas of academic offering including Arts and Sciences, Teacher Education and in Business Administration. The new initiatives in these areas encompass activities ranging from student intern opportunities and scholarships, to summer institutes, faculty research and faculty development opportunities.

The second area where the Office of Academic Affairs has doubled its efforts is in the realm of information technology. Students, Faculty and Staff at Jarvis Christian College have access to numerous online computer facilities, technology laboratories, distance learning options and a state-of-the-art media and communications center. Jarvis has completed its construction of a fully integrated and interactive distance learning facility that accommodates nearly 400 students per session. This facility is one of the few of its kind in East Texas and puts Jarvis attendees on a technological footing equal to students in the nation's most prestigious universities.

The Office of Academic Affairs, indeed, all of the Jarvis Christian College family, understands very clearly the intensely technical and competitive nature of the 21st Century workplace. The College has and will continue to demonstrate its commitment to providing Jarvis students with the access to and knowledge of technology that will allow them to compete and excel in the world of tomorrow.
