The Division of Arts & Sciences focuses on new initiatives in the environmental sciences
The Division of Arts and Sciences has continued on its mandate to train students in the disciplines. Many innovations have continued to be put in place to enhance student learning and academic growth. The division has also embarked on a mission to provide our nearly 600 students a vigorous and comprehensive exposure to the Geosciences, specifically Astronomy and for the nearly 40000 K-12 students in East Texas. The College is involved in purchasing, upgrading, installing and maintaining several key pieces of Astronomy instrumentation to accomplish this goal. The division has also developed a number of Astronomy and Earth Science courses to fulfill this mission.
Course offerings for the Area of Religion include religion and philosophy. This area offers major and minor fields of study in religion for the Bachelor of Arts degree.
The Area of Science and Mathematics offe rs courses leading to the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in biology, chemistry, and mathematics.
The Chemistry Division at Jarvis is designed for students who would like to head directly into an industrial position, pursue an advanced degree in chemistry, go on to a professional school or teach at the secondary education level.
