The Community and Resource Development department, located in the Emma B. • Leadership Lake Country at Jarvis Christian College
  • Sunday Brunch

The Community and Resource Development department is also excited to announce plans in early 2004 for a Community and Technology Center, a 5,000 square facility on the Jarvis Christian College campus that will house services and programs to serve the nearby communities of Big Sandy, Hawkins and Mineola. The CTC will serve all ages and be guided by an advisory board of residents, corporate and civic partners and community leaders. Jarvis' vision of this project is to provide opportunities for low- and moderate-income rural families for affordable housing, to become self-sufficient and learn skills to meet the demands of a technology driven economy.

The following are specific programs to be offered:

  • Educational programs for low- and moderate-income individuals (computer, GED, ESL, homeownership entrepreneurship and other adult education courses)
  • After School education and mentoring to school age students
  • Technology and job readiness training
  • Affordable housing and economic development support to the local community
