Purpose
(1) To identify qualified youths with potential for education at the postsecondary level, and encourage such youths to complete secondary school and to undertake a program of postsecondary education,

(2) To publicize the availability of student financial assistance available to persons who pursue a program of postsecondary education, and

(3) To encourage persons who have not completed programs of education at the secondary or postsecondary level, but who have the ability to complete such programs and reenter such programs.

Eligible Participants

• From counties of Camp, Gregg, Rusk, Smith, Upshur and Wood
• Low-income and/or potential first generation college students
• Between the ages of 11-27.

Benefits

• Middle and high school students will be offered Saturday Sessions in English, math, and science at the college campus
• Counseling sessions will also be conducted at the schools
• Adults without a high school diploma will be counseled in GED services
• Adults with high school diplomas will be directed towards immediate postsecondary enrollment

Outreach Office

• Gregg County will be housed at the Longview High School in Longview, TX
• Smith County will be located at Plyler Alternative School in Tyler, TX.
