April 19-21, 2011
As a means to create awareness for an ever growing concern within our society, Jarvis implemented The Clothesline Project to call attention to, and educate about the issue of, domestic violence. The event, a student lead initiative, took place on the campus of Jarvis Christian College April 19-21
.
The individuals participating in the project told their stories by writing and/or drawing on provided t-shirts. Each story told was then hung on clotheslines to create a public, visual demonstration of the quantity and variety of abuse that has occurred within our local area and to ensure the survivors of domestic violence that they are not alone in their experiences. Domestic violence continues to become a pressing issue amongst our society. The students of Jarvis Christian College wanted to do their part in creating an environment that is not only free of violence but is also a safe zone for its victims.
