UNCF Coronation

Jarvis Christian University Crowns Miss and Mister UNCF During Annual Coronation Celebration

Jarvis Christian University proudly celebrated the spirit of scholarship, service, and student leadership during its annual UNCF Coronation Ceremony, where Miss UNCF Laniyah Nelson and Mister UNCF Jeremiah Thomas were formally crowned as this year’s ambassadors for the United Negro College Fund campaign.

The coronation ceremony is a cherished Jarvis tradition, recognizing students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to supporting educational opportunity for others. As Miss and Mister UNCF, Nelson and Thomas will serve as representatives of Jarvis Christian University’s UNCF initiative, helping raise awareness and support for scholarships that directly impact students across historically Black colleges and universities.

The event brought together students, faculty, staff, alumni, family members, and community supporters for an evening of celebration and purpose. The ceremony highlighted the importance of the UNCF’s mission—ensuring that deserving students have access to higher education—and emphasized the role Jarvis students play in advancing that mission through leadership and advocacy.

Laniyah Nelson, crowned as Miss UNCF, was recognized for her dedication to academic success, campus involvement, and service to the Jarvis community. As Miss UNCF, she will help champion fundraising efforts, participate in outreach events, and serve as a visible reminder of how scholarships transform lives and open doors to opportunity.

Jeremiah Thomas, crowned as Mister UNCF, was honored for his leadership, character, and commitment to supporting the university’s culture of excellence. In his role, Thomas will join Nelson in promoting the UNCF campaign, encouraging student participation, and helping the broader community understand the importance of investing in education.

University leaders noted that the coronation is not only a ceremonial milestone but also a reminder of Jarvis Christian University’s longstanding partnership with UNCF and its dedication to student success. Funds raised through the campaign help provide scholarships, academic support, and opportunities that enable students to remain enrolled, graduate, and pursue meaningful careers.

The coronation ceremony also served as an opportunity to reflect on the broader impact of giving and service within the Jarvis community. Through the leadership of Miss and Mister UNCF, students are reminded that they are both beneficiaries of opportunity and stewards of the university’s future.

As Jarvis Christian University continues its UNCF fundraising efforts, Nelson and Thomas will play a vital role in representing the campaign’s message: that education changes lives, strengthens families, and builds communities.

The university congratulates Miss UNCF Laniyah Nelson and Mister UNCF Jeremiah Thomas on this well-deserved honor and looks forward to their leadership throughout the year as they help advance the mission of Jarvis Christian University and the United Negro College Fund.
