University Launches Dual Degree Program

Jarvis Christian University Launches Innovative MBA + Master of Arts in Religion Dual Degree Program

Jarvis Christian University is expanding its graduate education offerings with the launch of an innovative new dual degree program that combines the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Master of Arts in Religious Studies (MARS). Designed for students who desire both professional preparation and purposeful leadership development, the program creates a unique pathway that equips graduates to lead in organizations, churches, nonprofits, businesses, and communities.
The new dual degree reflects Jarvis Christian University’s longstanding commitment to preparing students not only for careers, but also for lives of service and impact. By integrating graduate-level business education with advanced study in religion, ethics, and leadership, students will gain a broad foundation that connects practical skills with deeper questions of purpose, values, and service.
Students enrolled in the program will strengthen competencies in areas such as strategic leadership, organizational management, communication, decision-making, and community engagement while also exploring concepts related to faith, vocation, and ethical leadership. The dual degree is intended to prepare graduates to lead effectively in diverse environments where both professional expertise and strong values-based leadership are increasingly needed.
Dr. Henry Kerich, Dean of the Graduate School at Jarvis Christian University, believes the program responds directly to the changing demands of leadership across sectors.
“Today’s leaders are expected to navigate complex organizations while remaining grounded in values and purpose,” said Dr. Kerich. “The MBA and Master of Arts in Religious Studies dual degree creates a distinctive opportunity for students to develop strong business and leadership competencies while also engaging in meaningful reflection about service, ethics, and the broader impact of their work. This program prepares graduates to lead with both competence and conviction.”
The dual degree program offers flexibility for students seeking to expand career opportunities while pursuing interdisciplinary graduate study. Graduates may choose careers in business, nonprofit administration, ministry leadership, higher education, organizational leadership, social impact organizations, and other fields where leadership and mission intersect.
Dr. Maurice McMillion, Program Director for the Master of Arts in Religious Studies, emphasized the importance of connecting leadership with a broader sense of calling and service.
“Education should challenge students to think beyond position and title and toward impact,” said Dr. McMillion. “This program allows students to integrate intellectual growth, leadership development, and a deeper understanding of purpose as they prepare to serve their communities and organizations.”
The launch of the dual degree program continues Jarvis Christian University’s efforts to expand graduate opportunities that respond to student interests and workforce needs while remaining aligned with the institution’s mission.
Students interested in advancing their leadership abilities while pursuing meaningful and transformative work are encouraged to learn more about the new program and application requirements through the Graduate School.
