A New Beginning: Jarvis Student Builds Future Through Workforce Partnership
HAWKINS, Texas — July 1, 2026 — Every student deserves the opportunity for a new beginning. For Jarvis Christian University student Cory Spotts, an unexpected period of uncertainty became an opportunity to continue his education, pursue a career pathway in information technology, and build toward a promising future.
When Job Corps closures left students facing questions about their next steps, Jarvis Christian University and Workforce Solutions East Texas worked collaboratively to provide resources and support for students navigating the transition. Through the partnership, students gained access to housing, academic support, and employment opportunities designed to help them continue moving forward.

Today, Spotts is pursuing an information technology career pathway and continuing to develop the academic and professional skills needed to achieve his goals.
