Jarvis Christian University Names Andrés De León Interim Head Soccer Coach

HAWKINS, Texas — Jarvis Christian University is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrés De León as Interim Head Soccer Coach, ushering in a new chapter for the Bulldog soccer program centered on student development, leadership, and excellence both on and off the field.

A 2025 graduate of Jarvis Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, De León brings firsthand knowledge of the Bulldog experience as well as a passion for mentoring student-athletes. A former team captain, Summa Cum Laude graduate, and Presidential List honoree, he has demonstrated a commitment to academic achievement, servant leadership, and athletic excellence throughout his time at the university.

Before assuming his new role, De León gained coaching experience with the Valencia CF Soccer Academy in Houston, where he led training sessions focused on technical development, teamwork, and player growth while fostering a disciplined and positive team culture. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and is recognized for his leadership, organization, and ability to connect with student-athletes from diverse backgrounds.

For De León, coaching extends far beyond wins and losses.

“My coaching philosophy is built on developing student-athletes who grow both on and off the field through discipline, accountability, hard work, and respect,” said De León. “Fútbol is more than just a game—it’s a universal language that connects people from different cultures and backgrounds. Through fútbol, teammates become more than friends; they become family, creating a bond built on trust, sacrifice, and commitment to one another.”

That philosophy is reflected in what De León calls the 3 F’s: Faith, Family, and Fútbol.

“Faith gives us strength and purpose, family reminds us that we support each other through every challenge, and fútbol is the passion that unites us,” he said. “My goal is not only to build a successful program, but to create a culture where every student-athlete can reach their full potential, develop as leaders, and leave the program as better players and better people.”

As Interim Head Coach, De León is committed to establishing a culture rooted in accountability, character, and service while preparing the Bulldogs to compete at a high level. His vision aligns with Jarvis Christian University’s mission of educating the whole student—developing the head, heart, and hand through academic excellence, leadership, and Christian values.

Looking ahead, De León hopes every student-athlete who wears the Bulldog uniform will leave a lasting legacy.

“Most importantly,” he said, “I want every player to leave the program knowing they made a difference and helped build something greater by leaving the program better than they found it.”
