National Higher Education Leader Addresses Incoming Class

National Higher Education Leader Rasheed Ali Cromwell to Address Jarvis Christian University Students During Welcome Week

Jarvis Christian University will welcome nationally recognized higher education leader, attorney, and author Rasheed Ali Cromwell, Esq. to campus on Monday, August 3, as part of the University’s Welcome Week programming for new and returning students. Cromwell’s visit is one of several activities designed to help students begin the academic year with a strong foundation for leadership, personal growth, and academic success. Welcome Week includes leadership development, academic success programming, community-building activities, and opportunities for students to connect with campus resources before the first day of classes.

Cromwell is widely regarded as one of the nation’s leading experts on fraternity and sorority life, student leadership, and hazing prevention. Through The Harbor Institute, he has presented keynote addresses, leadership workshops, and educational training at more than 300 colleges and universities across 45 states, empowering thousands of students, faculty, and higher education professionals.

A practicing attorney and educational consultant, Cromwell combines legal expertise with decades of experience in student development to deliver engaging presentations that challenge students to lead with integrity, accountability, and purpose. His work has helped colleges and universities strengthen leadership development programs while fostering safer, more inclusive campus communities.

During his visit to Jarvis Christian University, Cromwell will encourage students to embrace the opportunities that come with college life while making intentional decisions that support both personal achievement and community well-being. His message aligns closely with Jarvis’s commitment to educating the whole student and preparing graduates to lead lives of service, faith, and excellence.

“Welcome Week is about more than helping students find their classrooms,” said Dr. Kishia James, Vice President for Student Affairs. “It is about helping students discover their purpose, build meaningful relationships, and develop the leadership skills that will serve them throughout their time at Jarvis and beyond. We are excited to welcome Mr. Cromwell and know our students will benefit from his experience, wisdom, and practical insights.”

Cromwell’s presentation will be especially valuable for students interested in campus leadership, student organizations, and the fraternity and sorority experience. Throughout his career, he has worked with colleges and universities to promote ethical leadership, healthy organizational cultures, and informed decision-making among student leaders. He also co-developed leadership curricula at both Howard University and The Ohio State University and has been recognized nationally for his contributions to advancing fraternity and sorority life.

His appearance reflects Jarvis Christian University’s continued investment in providing students with access to nationally respected speakers and educational experiences that complement learning inside the classroom.

As the Fall 2026 semester begins, Welcome Week will continue with a variety of activities designed to help Bulldogs connect with faculty, staff, and one another while embracing the University’s mission of educating the head, heart, and hand. Cromwell’s visit serves as an inspiring start to a new academic year, encouraging students to lead with character, pursue excellence, and make a lasting impact on the Jarvis community.
