Jarvis Christian University Expands Career Pathways with New Cisco-Aligned Technology Certifications
HAWKINS, Texas — Jarvis Christian University is expanding its Workforce Training & Continuing Education pathways with three Cisco Networking Academy courses designed to help learners develop career-ready technology skills and prepare for industry-recognized certifications in IT support, networking, and cybersecurity.
The new offerings include IT Support Essentials, Networking Essentials, and Cybersecurity Essentials, providing learners with accessible pathways to build practical skills for careers in some of today’s technology-driven fields.
IT Support Essentials prepares learners for entry-level IT support roles through practical experience with computer hardware, Windows and macOS operating systems, and network troubleshooting. The course is aligned with the Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) IT Support certification and includes hands-on labs designed to help learners build, troubleshoot, and manage computer systems and networks. No prerequisites are required, making the course an accessible entry point for individuals interested in beginning a career in information technology.
Networking Essentials provides learners with a broad foundation in networking and introduces how networks operate and support everyday technology. Participants develop skills applicable to entry-level positions such as Network Support Technician, Help Desk Technician, and IT Support Specialist. The course is aligned with the Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking certification and can also provide a foundation for continued preparation toward certifications such as the Cisco Certified Network Associate, or CCNA.
Individuals interested in one of the fastest-growing areas of technology can also pursue Cybersecurity Essentials. The course prepares learners for junior cybersecurity analyst roles by developing job-ready skills across three key areas: Endpoint Security, Network Defense, and Cyber Threat Management. Participants can build skills relevant to positions including Junior Cybersecurity Analyst, Cybersecurity Technician, Cybersecurity Specialist, and Tier 1 Help Desk Support. The course aligns with the CCST Cybersecurity certification.
Together, the three offerings strengthen Jarvis Christian University’s commitment to workforce development and continuing education by creating additional pathways for learners to gain technical knowledge, develop practical skills, and work toward credentials that demonstrate their abilities to prospective employers.
The courses also provide multiple entry points for individuals at different stages of their technology education. IT Support Essentials and Networking Essentials require no previous experience, while Cybersecurity Essentials builds upon foundational networking knowledge.
