Johnson Family Establishes Endowed Scholarship to Honor the Legacy of Dr. John F. Johnson
Jarvis Christian University proudly announces the establishment of the Dr. John F. Johnson Endowed Scholarship, honoring the life, service, and lasting educational legacy of longtime Jarvis science professor Dr. John F. Johnson.
The scholarship was established through the generosity of Dr. Beverly Waddleton Johnson and the Johnson family. Their support will ensure that Dr. Johnson’s commitment to education and student achievement continues to create opportunities for future generations of Jarvis students.
Dr. Johnson served as a science professor at Jarvis Christian University for more than 51 years. Throughout his distinguished tenure, he helped students develop the knowledge, discipline, and confidence needed to pursue their academic and professional goals. His influence extended beyond the classroom as he invested in the success of students and contributed to the intellectual life of the University.
Following Dr. Johnson’s passing in 2024, his family sought a meaningful and lasting way to celebrate his life and preserve his connection to the institution he served. for more than three decades. The Dr. John F. Johnson Endowed Scholarship provides that enduring tribute while supporting students as they pursue a Jarvis Christian University education.
An endowed scholarship is designed to provide support in perpetuity. The principal of the fund is invested, and a portion of the investment earnings is used to provide scholarship assistance in accordance with established guidelines. Because the original gift remains invested, the fund can continue supporting students year after year while carrying forward the name and legacy of the individual it honors.
The establishment of the Dr. John F. Johnson Endowed Scholarship reflects the powerful role philanthropy plays in advancing Jarvis Christian University’s mission.
