Jarvis Christian University Exceeds Fundraising Goal at UNCF North Texas Walk for Education
DALLAS, Texas — Jarvis Christian University continued its tradition of supporting the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) while demonstrating the strength of the Jarvis community at the 2026 UNCF North Texas Walk for Education in Dallas.
More than 50 members of the Jarvis Christian University community traveled from East Texas to Dallas to participate in the annual event, standing in solidarity with UNCF and supporters from across North Texas to raise awareness and financial support for higher education.
The University also continued its streak of exceeding its annual fundraising goal for the Walk. This year, Team Jarvis raised $1,750, surpassing its $1,500 goal by more than 16 percent.
For Jarvis Christian University, participation in the Walk represents more than a fundraising campaign. It reflects the University’s commitment to educational access and to supporting the broader network of historically Black colleges and universities served by UNCF.
“Jarvis Christian University is proud to stand with UNCF because we understand firsthand the transformative power of access to higher education,” said Dominique Isaac Grate, CFRE, CAP, Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Development. “Our community continues to show its commitment not simply through what we say, but through what we do. More than 50 members of the Jarvis family traveled to Dallas to walk together, and once again, our supporters helped us exceed our fundraising goal. That speaks volumes about who we are and our shared belief in creating opportunities for students to succeed.”
The strong turnout brought together members of the JCU community around a common cause: ensuring that students have access to the resources and opportunities necessary to pursue a college education. The Jarvis delegation joined other UNCF supporters for a day focused on education, community and collective impact.
Jarvis’ participation also highlights the importance of collaboration among HBCUs and organizations committed to expanding educational opportunity. For generations, UNCF has supported students and institutions through scholarships, advocacy and institutional support. Jarvis Christian University is proud to participate in efforts that strengthen not only its own students but the broader HBCU community.
Surpassing the University’s fundraising goal continues a pattern of strong support for the annual Walk and demonstrates the generosity of the Jarvis community. Every contribution to Team Jarvis helped advance the larger mission of supporting students and strengthening higher education.
The University’s presence in Dallas also provided students, employees, alumni and supporters an opportunity to represent Jarvis beyond the Hawkins campus and demonstrate the spirit of service that remains central to the institution.
As Jarvis Christian University continues its work to expand access, strengthen student success and prepare the next generation of leaders, its partnership with UNCF remains an important part of that commitment.
With more than 50 participants walking together and $1,750 raised for the 2026 campaign, Team Jarvis once again demonstrated what can be accomplished when the University community rallies around a shared purpose: supporting education and creating opportunities for the students who will shape the future.
