Good afternoon Jarvis Christian College Community,

Today, commemorates Constitution Day. It is a time to remember the document that was developed that attempted to address the issue of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all citizens. Although we find ourselves in the midst of social injustice, questions about police behavior, a global pandemic that disproportionately impacts people of color, concern about how we treat those who seek to come to this country from southern border countries, the treatment of indigenous people, and a concern for civil and human rights, we still pause to acknowledge the work done over 200 years ago by those who crafted this document.

Thank you for setting aside time to celebrate this day.

Sincerely,

Charles N. Smith, Ph.D.
