Concert Choir to Perform in The Hunchback of Notre Dame

University Concert Choir to Perform in The Hunchback of Notre Dame at UT Tyler

Jarvis Christian University is proud to announce the participation of the JCU Concert Choir in an upcoming production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, presented by the University of Texas at Tyler in partnership with Stage Notes Academy of Performing Arts (SNAPA) of Athens, Texas. Performances will take place January 16–18 at the UT Tyler Cowan Center – Braithwaite Recital Hall, located at 3236 Old Glory Road in Tyler.

This collaborative production brings together regional institutions and artists to deliver a powerful musical and theatrical experience inspired by Victor Hugo’s timeless story. The involvement of the Jarvis Christian University Concert Choir underscores the University’s commitment to experiential learning, artistic collaboration, and providing students with opportunities to perform at a professional level.

Adding to the significance of this production is the featured role of Mr. Donald Aaron, Director of Choral Activities at Jarvis Christian University, who will portray the character Frollo. Mr. Aaron’s dual role as both performer and educator highlights the depth of talent within JCU’s faculty and offers students a unique opportunity to learn alongside a seasoned professional in a large-scale theatrical setting.

For members of the JCU Concert Choir, participation in The Hunchback of Notre Dame offers invaluable exposure to interdisciplinary performance, combining choral excellence with theatrical storytelling. Students gain firsthand experience collaborating with performers, directors, and production teams from outside their home institution—an opportunity that strengthens musicianship, professionalism, and confidence.

“At Jarvis Christian University, we believe in learning by doing,” said a University representative. “This production allows our students to apply their skills in a real-world environment while representing the University with excellence. Experiences like this prepare our students for graduate study, professional performance, and leadership in the arts.”

The production will feature multiple performances: Thursday, January 16 at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, January 17 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; and Saturday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available now for $22 per person and may be purchased online at stagenotesapa.com/tickets.

The collaboration between UT Tyler, SNAPA, and Jarvis Christian University exemplifies the power of partnership in higher education and the arts. By working together, these institutions expand access to high-quality cultural experiences while supporting student growth and community engagement.

Jarvis Christian University applauds its Concert Choir and faculty for their dedication, talent, and professionalism. As the Bulldogs take the stage in this celebrated production, they continue a proud tradition of artistic excellence and service through performance.

The University invites students, alumni, families, and community members to attend and support this outstanding production.
