Jarvis Christian College is gearing up for its summer programs.
In addition to some of its regular summer programs, the College is offering some new programs, such as the Young Artist Institute and a Coding and Programming Innovation Program.
The Young Artist Institute is a one-week artistic program for children 10 to 15 years old. The Institute will be held June 26-30 and will include drawing, oil painting, mural painting and comic strip/graphic novel. Cost to attend is $45. The Institute is non-residential and offers multidisciplinary arts experiences that develop the gifts, talents and skills of student artists.
The Coding and Programming Innovation Program is set for June 19-23 for ages 12-14 and June 26-30 for ages 15-18. The program will offer a non-residential computing experience for both basic and advanced level students. The camp will focus on fundamental computer concepts, basic database design and programming development. The cost to attend is $45 per student.
Other summer programs include:
The Early Start Summer Program (ESSP) begins June 6 and is designed to provide students with the opportunity to adjust smoothly to the academic environment. The eight-week residential program offers comprehensive skill-building and orientation for entering first-time freshmen who are new to the College. The goal is to provide students with the skills and motivation necessary for success in completing a degree program. Students will enroll in four credit-bearing courses and also will engage in co-curricular workshops, programs and activities that teach them how to survive in college, be a leader among their peers, develop good study habits and identify and build a career. All ESSP students will live in the residence halls and have full access to the dining hall. The cost is based on credit hours taken. Participant must be admitted to the College.
The Summer Enrichment Program is for children ages 5 to 14 and provides educational enrichment during work hours. The 10-week non-residential program is held June 6-Aug. 11, 2017, and offers a variety of academic and enrichment classes, including reading, arithmetic, computer usage sports and physical fitness activities. The cost to attend is $45 per week for the first child and $20 for each additional child.
