Jarvis Christian University Approved as Pearson VUE GED Testing Site
HAWKINS, Texas — Jarvis Christian University has been approved as an official Pearson VUE GED Testing Center, expanding educational access and workforce development opportunities for individuals throughout East Texas and the surrounding region.
As an authorized testing site, Jarvis Christian University will provide a secure, professional environment for individuals seeking to earn their General Educational Development (GED) credential. The designation places Jarvis among a network of approved testing centers that administer high-stakes examinations through Pearson VUE, a global leader in computer-based testing and assessment services. GED candidates will now have a convenient local option for completing the four subject-area examinations required to earn a high school equivalency credential.
The new testing center reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to educational opportunity, lifelong learning, and community engagement.
“Jarvis Christian University has always been dedicated to opening doors of opportunity through education,” said Dr. Dorothy Langley, Director of Sponsored Programs. “Becoming an official Pearson VUE GED Testing Center allows us to extend that mission beyond our traditional student population by providing a pathway for adult learners, workforce participants, and community members who are pursuing educational advancement and career growth.”
The GED credential serves as an important milestone for individuals seeking employment opportunities, career advancement, military service eligibility, or admission to colleges and universities. By offering local testing access, Jarvis reduces barriers that often prevent prospective test-takers from completing their educational goals.
Dr. Langley noted that the initiative aligns with the University’s broader vision of serving as a regional hub for educational and economic development.
“Education is transformational at every stage of life,” she said. “Whether someone is taking the first step toward a college degree, seeking a promotion, or pursuing a new career path, the GED can be a critical gateway. We are proud that Jarvis Christian University can now play a direct role in helping individuals achieve that milestone.”
Pearson VUE administers testing programs for thousands of academic, licensure, certification, and workforce credentialing organizations worldwide and provides the technology platform used for official GED testing. Authorized testing centers must meet rigorous standards for security, technology, and test administration.
The establishment of the GED Testing Center complements Jarvis Christian University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen workforce development, adult education, and community partnerships throughout East Texas. University officials anticipate that the center will serve not only local residents but also individuals from neighboring communities seeking a convenient and accessible testing location.
Information regarding registration, testing schedules, and eligibility requirements will be available through Pearson VUE and GED Testing Service platforms. Candidates may create an account, schedule examinations, and select Jarvis Christian University as their testing location through the official GED testing portal.
