Jarvis Christian University Announces Labor Day Closure
HAWKINS, Texas — Jarvis Christian University will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day. Regular University operations and classes will resume on Tuesday, September 8.
Labor Day provides an opportunity to recognize the contributions of American workers and the role their labor has played in strengthening communities, institutions, and the nation. For the Jarvis Christian University community, the observance also offers an opportunity to recognize the dedication of the faculty, staff, and others whose work supports the University’s mission and its students each day.
From educating and mentoring students to maintaining campus facilities, supporting University operations, engaging alumni, and serving the broader East Texas community, the work of Jarvis faculty and staff is essential to creating an environment in which students can learn, grow, and prepare for their futures.
The University extends its appreciation to every member of the Jarvis community for the talent, commitment, and service they bring to the institution.
As students, faculty, and staff observe the holiday, Jarvis Christian University encourages the campus community to use the day as an opportunity for rest, reflection, and time with family and friends.
The University will reopen on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with normal academic and administrative operations resuming.
Jarvis Christian University wishes its students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends a safe and enjoyable Labor Day.
