Jarvis Christian University Hosts MLK Unity in the CommUnity Prayer Breakfast
Jarvis Christian University gathered students, faculty, staff, alumni, clergy, and community partners for its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity in the CommUnity Prayer Breakfast, a meaningful event dedicated to honoring the life, legacy, and enduring call of Dr. King. The breakfast served as both a time of reflection and a renewed commitment to the principles of justice, unity, and service that defined Dr. King’s ministry and movement.
Hosted by President Dr. Glenell M. Lee-Pruitt, the program brought together leaders from across East Texas, including local elected officials, clergy, and community advocates, underscoring Jarvis’s role as a bridge between campus and community. The morning opened with prayer, greetings from civic leaders, and musical selections from the Jarvis Christian University Choir, including the powerful hymn Lift Every Voice and Sing, grounding the gathering in both faith and shared cultural heritage.

The keynote message was delivered by Rev. Demethrius T. Boyd, senior pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Mineola, Texas.
