Jarvis Christian University Launches Master of Arts in Religious Studies Program
Jarvis Christian University is expanding opportunities for graduate students with the launch of its new Master of Arts in Religious Studies program, a degree designed to equip students for leadership, ministry, scholarship, and meaningful service in an increasingly complex world.
Rooted in Jarvis Christian University’s mission of developing leaders committed to faith, service, and academic excellence, the program combines theological study with practical application to prepare graduates for careers and callings that extend beyond traditional ministry settings.Â
The Master of Arts in Religious Studies is designed for individuals seeking to deepen their understanding of faith while developing the skills needed to lead in churches, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and communities. Through a flexible and student-centered learning experience, the program seeks to prepare graduates who can thoughtfully engage contemporary issues while remaining grounded in biblical principles and Christian leadership.
Dr. Regina S. Robinson, Provost of Jarvis Christian University, said the new program reflects the university’s commitment to expanding academic offerings that meet both student interests and societal needs.Â
“Jarvis Christian University has always believed education should shape both intellect and purpose,” Robinson said. “The launch of the Master of Arts in Religious Studies represents our continued commitment to preparing students to lead lives of meaning and impact. We are creating pathways for individuals who desire to strengthen their understanding of faith while developing the skills necessary to serve and lead in diverse settings. This program extends our mission and creates opportunities for students to connect scholarship with service.”Â
The addition of the new graduate program further strengthens the university’s growing Graduate School and reflects an intentional effort to provide relevant academic programs that support workforce development, leadership preparation, and spiritual formation.
Dr. Maurice McMillion, Program Director for the Master of Arts in Religious Studies, emphasized that the degree was developed with an understanding that leadership and ministry continue to evolve in today’s society.
“The world is seeking leaders who can think critically, engage faithfully, and serve compassionately,” McMillion said. “This program is designed to help students deepen their theological understanding while equipping them with practical tools for leadership and ministry. Whether students feel called to congregational leadership, nonprofit work, education, chaplaincy, or broader community engagement, they will gain knowledge and experiences that empower them to make a meaningful difference.”
The program is structured to offer students a learning experience that is biblically grounded, leadership focused, flexible, and designed to create impact beyond the classroom.
As Jarvis Christian University continues to expand its academic footprint, the Master of Arts in Religious Studies represents another step toward fulfilling the institution’s vision of preparing graduates to transform communities through faith, service, and leadership.
