Jarvis Christian University Celebrates Sophomore Class Week 2026
Jarvis Christian University recently celebrated Sophomore Class Week 2026, a vibrant series of events designed to recognize the accomplishments and continued persistence of the university’s sophomore class. Under the theme “2nd Year, Still Here!”, the week highlighted the importance of student retention, community building, and the shared journey of Jarvis students as they continue their academic pursuits.
Sophomore Class Week began on Monday, March 2, with a Sophomore Class Check-In held in the cafeteria lobby. This gathering provided students an opportunity to reconnect with classmates, reflect on their first year at Jarvis, and receive information about upcoming events and resources designed to support their continued success. The check-in set a welcoming tone for the week, encouraging students to celebrate their progress and commitment to their educational goals.
The celebration continued on Tuesday, March 3, following chapel services at the historic Smith-Howard Chapel, where sophomores gathered for the “Best in Black” Fit Check Class Photo. Students arrived dressed in stylish all-black attire, creating a memorable class moment as they posed together for a group photograph. The event allowed students to showcase their personal style while strengthening class identity and pride.
On Wednesday, March 4, students gathered at the Bulldog Arena for an evening of friendly competition and recreation. The activities included a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a soccer match, and a variety of field games such as a sack race and three-legged relay race. These events brought together students from across campus, encouraging teamwork, camaraderie, and school spirit. The lively atmosphere demonstrated the close-knit community that defines the Jarvis experience.
Creativity and humor took center stage on Thursday, March 5, during Celebrity Look-A-Like Day, an all-day event where students were invited to dress as their favorite meme, movie character, or celebrity. The event generated excitement across campus as students shared their creative interpretations and celebrated the lighter side of campus life. Participants were also entered into a drawing for a chance to win an Echo Dot, adding an element of fun competition to the day.
Sophomore Class Week concluded on Friday, March 6, with a Speed Friending Day Party and Cookout held in the campus courtyard. The event, which took place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., provided students an opportunity to meet new classmates, strengthen friendships, and enjoy food, music, and conversation in a relaxed outdoor setting. The cookout served as a fitting finale to the week’s activities, reinforcing the sense of belonging and community that Jarvis seeks to cultivate among its students.
Sophomore Class Week is an important tradition at Jarvis Christian University, celebrating the perseverance of students who have successfully completed their first year of college and are continuing their academic journey. By recognizing this milestone, the university reaffirms its commitment to student success and the holistic development of its scholars.
Through events that combine celebration, connection, and community engagement, Sophomore Class Week 2026 reminded students that their journey at Jarvis is not only about academic achievement but also about building relationships, memories, and lifelong Bulldog pride.
