Dear Students:
As you know, Jarvis has experienced serious technology-related difficulties/downtime during this academic year. We know this has been very frustrating for most of you. Most recently, you have probably noticed some improvements in technology and Wi-Fi access. This is a result of considerable expenditures of resources to upgrade our network, bandwidth, and internet capacity to support the needs of faculty, staff, and students.
We have implemented several measures to ensure sustained access to Wi-Fi and other technology devices throughout the campus, including the following:
1. Installed and/or replaced access points;
2. Installed cameras to better secure all technology devices;
3. Doubled our bandwidth capacity;
4. Allocated Wi-Fi / internet capacity specifically for use by students; and
5. Upgraded technology devices in the labs and classrooms.
We are confident that these upgrades and additions have resolved the most serious technology problems. However, our technology staff will continue to monitor our systems to minimize problems in the future.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconveniences caused by aging technology and equipment; and the prolonged amount of time that it has taken to resolve these problems/issues.
Sincerely,
Dexter Odom
