University Announces Two-Hour Delay

University to Operate on a  Delayed Schedule Wednesday, January 28, 2026

Hawkins, Texas — Due to lingering winter weather conditions impacting portions of the East Texas region, Jarvis Christian University (JCU) will operate on a delayed opening schedule on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. University offices will open, and classes will resume at 10:00 a.m. Students should check Canvas to determine whether their classes will be held in person or virtually. This delay is being implemented out of an abundance of caution to prioritize the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff.

Faculty teaching face-to-face courses scheduled before 10:00 a.m. should communicate directly with students regarding any class adjustments. Students are encouraged to monitor Canvas and university email for course-specific updates.

University offices will resume normal operations beginning at 10:00 a.m. Student Affairs, Residential Life, and essential personnel will remain available to support students, including those residing on campus.

Spring 2026 registration will remain open and accessible online, and students are encouraged to continue completing registration-related tasks virtually as needed. University offices will be available to assist students remotely prior to the delayed opening and in person once operations resume.
