Jarvis Christian University to Celebrate Student Leadership at 2026 Coronation: “The Royal Roundup: A Crowning Affair”
HAWKINS, Texas — Jarvis Christian University will celebrate tradition, student leadership and Bulldog pride during its 2026 Coronation, “The Royal Roundup: A Crowning Affair,” on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 7 p.m.
One of the University’s signature traditions, Coronation provides the Jarvis community with an opportunity to formally recognize and celebrate members of the Royal Court. The evening will bring together students, faculty, staff, alumni, family members and friends for a ceremony highlighting student achievement, leadership and service.
This year’s theme, “The Royal Roundup: A Crowning Affair,” blends the pageantry traditionally associated with Coronation with a distinctive Western flair. Featuring crowns, boots and bold Jarvis blue and gold imagery, the theme celebrates both the elegance of the occasion and the spirit of the University community.
Coronation has long held a special place in the collegiate experience at historically Black colleges and universities. More than a formal ceremony, the tradition recognizes students who represent their institutions through scholarship, service, campus involvement and leadership. At Jarvis Christian University, the occasion provides an opportunity to celebrate students who carry forward the institution’s legacy while helping shape its future.
The Royal Court serves as part of the public face of the student body throughout the academic year, participating in University programs and representing JCU at campus and community events. Coronation formally recognizes their roles and celebrates the responsibility that accompanies representing the Jarvis student experience.
The ceremony will also offer the University community an opportunity to gather during a season filled with activities celebrating Jarvis pride, history and connection. For alumni, events such as Coronation provide a reminder of traditions experienced by generations of Jarvis students. For current students, the evening creates memories and experiences that become part of their own connection to the University.
The 2026 Coronation reflects Jarvis Christian University’s commitment to developing students academically, personally and professionally. Leadership opportunities outside of the classroom complement the University’s educational mission by allowing students to develop confidence, strengthen communication skills and experience the responsibilities associated with representing a community.
As members of the Royal Court take center stage, the evening will celebrate not only the individuals being recognized but also the larger Jarvis community that has encouraged and supported them throughout their collegiate journeys.
