University Welcomes Fulbright Scholar Anaïs Victor

Jarvis Christian University Welcomes Fulbright Scholar Anaïs Victor as French Instructor

Jarvis Christian University is pleased to welcome Fulbright Scholar Anaïs Victor to campus as a French instructor, expanding the University’s global learning footprint and enriching the humanities with a dynamic, student-centered approach to world languages. Victor arrives with a distinctive blend of scholarly training and international classroom experience: she teaches English in France at both the high school and university levels and holds two advanced credentials—a master’s degree in Luxury Brand Management (Food & Wine) from a French business school and a teaching diploma.

Victor’s path to the classroom was shaped by the COVID-19 pandemic, a time that clarified her professional calling. “After the COVID-19 pandemic, I chose to dedicate myself to teaching, driven by a desire to share knowledge and inspire students,” she reflects. That commitment now animates her work at Jarvis, where she introduces students to the French language through cultural immersion, practical communication, and an emphasis on the living diversity of the Francophone world.

A passionate traveler who has explored 20 countries and seven U.S. states, Victor brings global perspective to every lesson. Her courses invite students to encounter French as it is spoken and lived—from Paris to Dakar, Montreal to Port-au-Prince—highlighting how language connects to foodways, music, film, business, and everyday life. “At Jarvis, I introduce students to the French language and the diversity of Francophone cultures,” she notes, pointing to the many historical and contemporary ties between the Francophone world and communities across Africa, the Caribbean, and North America.

Victor’s appointment aligns with Jarvis Christian University’s mission to cultivate cultural literacy, intellectual curiosity, and career-ready skills. Proficiency in an additional language deepens students’ critical thinking and opens doors in fields as varied as international business, education, public service, media, and ministry. Victor’s background in luxury brand management also equips her to help students understand how language and culture shape consumer experience, global hospitality, and cross-border partnerships—valuable insights for an increasingly interconnected marketplace.

Beyond the classroom, Victor will support co-curricular programming that fosters community and confidence for language learners. Anticipated activities may include informal conversation hours, cultural spotlights on Francophone regions, and collaborations with campus organizations to celebrate international traditions. These experiences complement formal instruction and help students practice the interpersonal skills essential to real-world communication.

As a Fulbright Scholar, Victor strengthens Jarvis’s engagement in international exchange and educational diplomacy—bringing the world to East Texas and showcasing Jarvis students’ talents to a global audience. Her arrival underscores the University’s commitment to preparing graduates who can listen across differences, collaborate across cultures, and lead with empathy and excellence.

Jarvis Christian University extends a warm welcome to Anaïs Victor and invites students to discover the opportunities awaiting them in French language study and Francophone cultural exploration. For information about course offerings and enrollment, students should consult the current schedule in Canvas or contact the Division of Academic Affairs.
