Welcome to the Level Up

The Level-Up Program is designed to support foster youth transitioning from completion of high school/GED to higher education by providing holistic academic, personal, and social support. This initiative aligns with Jarvis Christian University’s commitment to student success and community engagement.

Mission Statement

The Level-Up Program empowers foster youth by providing year-round housing, financial support, academic resources, and mentorship. This program will enable students to achieve academic excellence and develop essential life skills for independent adulthood.

Level-Up Program Resources and Services

The Level-Up Program offers the following essential resources to ensure student success:

1. Housing and Basic Needs

  • Guaranteed year-round housing, including breaks and summer (contingent on participation and compliance).
  • Food pantry access and supplemental meals or vouchers.
  • Provide support for essential items (clothing, toiletries, school supplies)
  • Support in navigating Medicaid application/ processing

2. Academic Support

  • Assigned Academic Advisor
  • One-on-one academic advising.
  • Tutoring and study skills development.
  • Assistance with course selection and degree planning.

3. Financial Assistance

  • Guidance on accessing financial aid and scholarships.
  • Support in navigating FAFSA and the Student Loan Entrance Counseling
  • Assistance in securing work-study or paid internships.
  • Financial literacy workshops

4. Personal and Social Development

  • Assigned Life Coach for a long-term relationship, until graduation
  • Monthly workshops on budgeting, career planning, and life skills.
  • Access to trauma-informed mental health services (individual and group counseling services).
  • Opportunities to navigate community resources

5. Mentorship and Career Readiness

  • Assigned mentor providing confidant relationship, guidance, and 24-hour need access.
  • Career readiness training, including résumé-building and interview skills.
  • Opportunities for professional networking and internship placement.
  • Networking opportunities with faculty and community leaders.
